Grind Machinist II – 2nd/3rd Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking a Grind Machinist II for the 2nd/3rd shift at its Buffalo, NY facility. The role supports the Military Aircraft Group, producing high‑precision components for programs such as the F‑35, MQ‑25 and FLRAA.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, operation sheets and verbal instructions to manufacture complex parts.
• Operate cylindrical, internal and surface grinders to achieve tight tolerances (typically .001 ± .0005) and high surface finish.
• Select and dress appropriate grinding wheels, set up machines, and run production parts according to drawing requirements.
• Measure components using micrometers, calipers and dial bore gauges to verify compliance.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to FAA safety‑sensitive work regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience as a grind machinist.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Enrollment in the company’s FAA Drug & Alcohol Program.

Required skills

• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers and dial bore gauges.
• Experience operating cylindrical, internal and surface grinding machines.
• Knowledge of grinding wheel selection and dressing techniques.
• Capability to hold tolerances of .001 ± .0005 on precision parts.
