Development Manager - Renewables

About the role

Puget Sound Energy's Energy Resource Development team is seeking a Development Manager - Renewables to lead the commercial strategy behind energy infrastructure investments that strengthen grid reliability and support clean energy goals. The role covers acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and self-build projects across generation, transmission, distribution and real estate assets, with hybrid work available for WA-based candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial development of generation self-build opportunities and transmission development, including financial feasibility analyses, engineering, operational, environmental, legal and real estate reviews
• Negotiate acquisitions, development projects, purchase and sale, O&M, real estate, interconnection and service agreements, and ensure deal closing conditions are met
• Act as the primary commercial representative with developers, investors, utilities, government agencies and other stakeholders
• Support regulatory affairs, including testimony in WUTC rate cases, and maintain separation-of-functions governance in competitive bidding
• Manage external vendors and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, business administration or equivalent, plus 7 years of relevant experience
• 5 years of increasing responsibility in the utility, oil, gas or independent power sector, with project development or commercial acquisition experience
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand complex financial pro-formas and guide analytical staff

• Pay range of $124,600 to $207,400, with eligibility for annual goal-based incentive bonuses
