Desktop/PC Technician – Temporary Assignment

About the role

Arctiq, a global technology services company, has a temporary assignment for a Desktop/PC Technician working for one of its clients in Reno, Nevada. You will report to a lead project consultant and help close the gaps in the client's discovery phase. The assignment starts as soon as possible and runs through the end of November, with a possible extension into December.

Key responsibilities

• Walk server rooms and network closets, review servers and network devices, and photograph racks, labels, ports and cabling.
• Trace cables from patch panels and switches to endpoints and document what you find.
• Run simple scripts and PowerShell commands to collect device and system details, with guidance from the consultant.
• Log in to servers (with provided access) to gather configuration and IP information.
• Meet end users and application owners to understand what systems do, what they connect to and who depends on them.
• Log findings in shared trackers and spreadsheets so the team can plan the re-IP.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a technology-related program, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• Able to work onsite in Reno, NV, five days a week, about 7 AM to 3 PM, with a daily status meeting at 7:30 AM.
• Able to handle light equipment in server rooms and network closets, including occasional kneeling, bending and use of a step stool.
• Comfortable communicating with others, asking questions and approaching unfamiliar people.
• Organized, detail-oriented and dependable, with a focus on documentation and accuracy.
• Available to start immediately and work through the end of November, with a possible extension into December.

Required skills

• Nice to have: basic knowledge of networking, Windows or Linux administration, or scripting.
• Nice to have: familiarity with PowerShell, command-line tools or IP addressing.
• Nice to have: relevant coursework, labs, personal projects, a home lab or help desk experience.
