Delivery Assistant

About the role

HD Supply is hiring a Delivery Assistant who supports delivery drivers with customer orders, including loading and off-loading products, talking to customers and making sure safety procedures are followed. The role does not involve driving a company or rental vehicle. It is open to candidates in several states, with a stated hourly pay range.

Key responsibilities

• Work with delivery drivers to ensure orders are delivered safely, accurately and efficiently.
• Inspect deliveries before loading to check that orders are accurate and undamaged.
• Help load and unload merchandise into and out of delivery vehicles using powered and non-powered material handling equipment.
• Make customer calls before and during delivery, provide proof of delivery and resolve basic customer service issues.
• Relay escalated customer concerns to distribution center leadership.
• Be polite and professional, perform general warehouse duties as needed, and follow safety procedures.

Required profile

• 0-2 years of experience in the area of responsibility; prior delivery assistant experience in a similar industry preferred.
• 1+ years of experience operating material handling equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of warehouse procedures, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, cargo securement requirements and delivery documents preferred.
• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
