Dean of General Studies

About the role

The Savannah Technical College seeks an Academic Dean to lead its General Studies Division. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will oversee all General Studies programs, courses, faculty, and instructional services, including community, high‑school, dual‑enrollment, and college‑level offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership, management, and oversight for General Studies programs and the student tutoring program.
• Coordinate and facilitate articulation agreements and academic partnerships with secondary schools, technical colleges, universities, and external stakeholders.
• Oversee the Curriculum Committee, ensuring proposals and policies align with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
• Lead strategic initiatives related to academic innovation, enrollment growth, workforce development, faculty development, student success, and operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with faculty, deans, and college leadership to develop and assess initiatives that advance the college’s strategic plan.

Required profile

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in English, Mathematics, Business Administration, Educational Leadership, a General Studies discipline, or a closely related field.
• At least three years of full‑time paid work experience within the past seven years in business, industry, education, or military environments.
• Demonstrated project‑management and leadership abilities, with experience coordinating multiple initiatives and leading cross‑functional teams.
