Data Support Engineer

About the role

FanDuel is looking for a Data Support Engineer in Atlanta to strengthen its data capabilities and keep its critical data pipelines and infrastructure reliable and performant. You will join the Data Support team, serving data consumers across the company, combining technical troubleshooting with proactive monitoring in an agile environment alongside colleagues in data engineering, machine learning and more.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-call technical assistance to analysts, data consumers and data engineering teams on query optimization, reporting anomalies, failed jobs and data inconsistencies
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues from system alerts or stakeholder notifications, ensuring compliance with audits and controls
• Design and implement batch and real-time data pipelines to the data warehouse or data lake, and improve monitoring dashboards and support tools
• Lead initiatives to improve data pipelines and operations, mentor and onboard new support engineers, and automate manual work
• Maintain technical documentation such as FAQs, troubleshooting runbooks and a knowledge base
• Shape workflows for consumer support, operations monitoring, incident and problem management
• Manage tool access in line with governance policies and join the on-call pager duty rotation for 24/7 coverage

Required profile

• At least 3 years of data engineering experience focused on operational support
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership of issues through resolution
• Incident management and root cause analysis, customer-oriented approach and attention to detail
• Communication skills and ability to work across teams and time zones

Required skills

• Advanced SQL with query optimization experience
• Python for automation and data processing
• AWS, Databricks, Spark, data warehousing and ETL/ELT
• Dimensional modeling, batch ingestion and real-time technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis
• Orchestration and monitoring tools such as Airflow, Datadog, Prometheus and Grafana
• Preferred: dbt, CI/CD (BuildKite or GitHub Actions), Tableau or Looker, data science and machine learning exposure

• Salary range of $116,000 - $152,250 depending on experience, location and market
