Data Scientist – AI for Scientific Discovery

About the role

As a Data Scientist you will design, develop and deploy AI and machine‑learning solutions that accelerate scientific discovery. You will work with one of the world’s largest collections of research publications, datasets, citations, ontologies and knowledge graphs to make scientific knowledge more discoverable, trustworthy and actionable.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy machine‑learning, NLP and generative‑AI models that help researchers find, understand and apply scientific information.
• Build intelligent retrieval, search, recommendation, ranking and question‑answering systems.
• Develop AI pipelines that connect publications, datasets, citations, knowledge graphs and ontologies.
• Fine‑tune, evaluate and integrate large language models and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) systems into production.
• Create robust evaluation frameworks measuring quality, relevance, trustworthiness and user impact.
• Construct scalable data pipelines and ML workflows for experimentation, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, UX, analytics and domain experts to translate ambiguous challenges into practical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable Python code and reusable AI components.

Required profile

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related quantitative field.
• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for applying AI to scientific problems.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
