Data Engineer I – Entry Level

About the role

The Technology & Data team at NationsBenefits is looking for a Data Engineer I to help design, develop, and maintain enterprise data solutions in a healthcare environment. This entry‑level role works closely with senior engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, development, and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks and SQL.
• Assist with data ingestion, transformation, and integration across enterprise systems.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
• Maintain SSIS packages and data integration workflows.
• Process and transform data with Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Troubleshoot data quality issues and provide production support.
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, and engineering teams.
• Create and maintain technical and process documentation.
• Support data governance, data quality, and HIPAA compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0‑3 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or database development.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
