Data Engineer – Build & Maintain Data Pipelines

About the role

SEP is seeking a hands‑on Data Engineer to join its growing data practice. You will design, build, test, and ship data pipelines and platforms that power client‑facing analytics solutions. The role is fully onsite in Westfield, IN, and offers the chance to work across a variety of industries and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines and transformations.
• Implement data models for analytics use cases, including dimensional and lakehouse designs.
• Write data quality checks and automated tests for pipelines.
• Configure orchestration and workflow tools (e.g., Airflow, Databricks Workflows).
• Deploy infrastructure as code for data platforms using Terraform or ARM/Bicep.
• Investigate and resolve pipeline failures and performance bottlenecks.
• Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to team documentation.
• Communicate progress, blockers, and risks to stakeholders and support client meetings technically.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python; experience with Spark, Scala, R, or C# is a plus.
• Practical experience with both batch and streaming pipeline patterns.
• Understanding of analytics data modeling (dimensional, normalized, lakehouse).
• Ability to work onsite without relocation assistance.
