Data Center Technician II – Night Shift

About the role

Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician II to work night shifts in a state‑of‑the‑art data center environment. You will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain server hardware and associated networking components, supporting the infrastructure that powers Google services worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Perform component‑level repairs and diagnostics on servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
• Install, configure, and test Linux‑based server clusters and related software.
• Handle physical tasks such as moving racks, lifting up to 50 lb, bending, kneeling, and climbing as needed.
• Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, hubs, bridges, and networking protocols.
• Participate in small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Work non‑standard hours, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.

Required profile

• 2 + years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Experience working in a data center or network operations center environment.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb and sustain physical activity for extended periods.
• Willingness to work night shifts and on‑call schedules.
