Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing technology start‑up in New York, is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen its security posture. You will work closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams to protect cloud environments, applications, and internal systems while fostering a security‑first culture.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and potential threats.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, coordinate penetration testing, and perform risk analysis.
• Develop and improve security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle.
• Support compliance initiatives and security audits.
• Manage identity and access management controls across business systems.
• Evaluate and implement security tools and technologies.
• Deliver security awareness guidance to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in Cyber Security, Information Security, or Security Engineering.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, IAM, and vulnerability management tools.
• Knowledge of network security, firewalls, intrusion detection, and endpoint security.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, or CIS Controls.
• Understanding of secure software development practices.
• Proven experience investigating and responding to security incidents.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
