Cyber Engineer IV

About the role

The Cyber Engineer IV ensures data security for underwater vehicles by applying cyber security fundamentals and guiding engineering efforts to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyze and mitigate cyber vulnerabilities for complete underwater systems in accordance with government specifications.
• Implement the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) across operating systems and customer‑supplied products.
• Produce letters of volatility, clearing procedures, and serve as the cyber engineering SME between engineering, project management, and the customer.
• Participate in government audits and provide leadership within the software group, including policy enforcement and mentorship of junior staff.

Required profile

• BS degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience in systems, software, or cyber engineering, preferably with the US Department of Defense.
• US citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Strong communicator with a forward‑leaning, tenacious personality.

Required skills

• Implementation of NIST RMF and creation of ATO artifacts.
• Application of STIG on various operating systems and embedded systems hardening.
• Experience with Linux variants, bare‑metal systems, network device security, and anti‑tamper technology.
• Knowledge of AUV/ROV and ocean engineering robotic systems.
