Customer Service Specialist

About the role

The Customer Service Specialist provides friendly, courteous, and confidential assistance to patients, employees, and the public at Clinica Romero. The role ensures a positive experience for every patient while supporting the clinic’s mission and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and greet patients, answer questions, and direct them to the appropriate departments.
• Handle incoming calls, take messages, transfer calls, and provide information to other departments.
• Manage written campaigns, broadcast messages, and individual texts using MyChart portal.
• Translate for patients when needed and make reminder calls for upcoming appointments.
• Collaborate with quality improvement, office managers, and directors to develop patient engagement strategies and reduce no‑show rates.
• Participate in community outreach, health fairs, and educational events to promote clinic services.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical office training preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage a demanding workload.
• Previous experience in a community clinic, call center, or outreach setting is a plus.

Required skills

• Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.
• Proficiency with MS Excel.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Familiarity with MyChart patient portal.
