Customer Service Representative - Part Time Patient Registration

About the role

R1 is looking for a Customer Service Representative for patient registration at Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital. You will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. The schedule is part-time PRN (as needed), with a minimum of 48 hours a month and 24 hours on call. No healthcare background is required, as training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process using multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Minimize delays in registration and answer questions with confidence, clarity and compassion
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask, prioritize quickly and handle shifting priorities
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus (not required)
