Customer Engineer – PDC (SEM Inspection & Metrology)

About the role

Applied Materials designs, builds and services cutting‑edge equipment for semiconductor and display manufacturing. As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) you act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading PDC SEM‑based inspection systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade Applied Materials PDC SEM inspection systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment using standard diagnostics and collaborate with senior engineers when needed.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electron‑beam, vacuum, electrical, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Support customers in improving defect inspection performance and yield.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and communicate directly with customers to ensure tool uptime.

Required profile

• Associate degree or technical training (Bachelor’s preferred).
• 4–7 years of experience supporting semiconductor equipment, preferably SEM or e‑beam inspection tools.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with vacuum systems, electron‑beam fundamentals and precision motion systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
