Custodian 2 – Facility Maintenance

About the role

The LSU Alexandria campus is seeking a motivated Custodian 2 to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions across its facilities. This classified position involves a variety of manual tasks in academic and administrative buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Clean bathrooms, offices, hallways, laboratories, and other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Empty and decontaminate trash containers, handle recycling, and manage bio‑hazardous waste as required.
• Operate industrial‑grade floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, and carpet extraction equipment.
• Set up tables, chairs, and furniture for special events and move equipment as needed.
• Maintain custodial equipment, report minor repairs, and ensure proper key security for campus buildings.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, follow safety procedures, and handle hazardous materials when necessary.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment criminal background check and possible drug screen or physical.
