Culinary Specialist – School Nutrition Programs

About the role

The Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition is seeking an experienced Culinary Specialist to provide technical assistance and leadership for culinary initiatives across the state’s school nutrition programs. This full‑time position supports local education agencies, develops curriculum, and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level support for culinary project development and implementation.
• Deliver in‑person and virtual training to school nutrition professionals on culinary applications.
• Design, update, and evaluate culinary curriculum, training materials, and instructional methods.
• Interpret and apply relevant Federal and State nutrition regulations.
• Analyze program trends to improve culinary practices and student outcomes.
• Assist with menu and recipe development for school nutrition programs.
• Coordinate statewide travel, special projects, and professional affiliations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, food service management, hospitality, or a related field.
• Minimum four years of professional experience in school nutrition, education, or large‑scale food production.
• Experience teaching adult or student learners, both in person and virtually.
• Demonstrated ability to present information clearly and respond to stakeholder questions.
