CT Technologist – Freestanding Emergency Department

About the role

The CT Technologist provides routine CT imaging for patients in a freestanding Emergency Department, working closely with staff radiologists. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and students while ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders, operate CT equipment, and perform imaging procedures according to protocol, including IV placement.
• Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission and complete quality‑control documentation.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensure informed consent, and adapt communication to diverse patient populations.
• Assist with departmental operations such as inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• Completion of an AMA‑approved Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT registration and Louisiana state licensure.
• Advanced CT certification within two years of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CT imaging equipment and radiology information systems.
• Computer skills for data entry, Windows‑style applications, and software specific to radiology.
• Knowledge of radiation safety procedures and CT technical terminology.
