CS/SPD Lead Technician

About the role

The Lead Technician oversees daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department on Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus, ensuring efficient workflow, equipment reliability, and high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Assign resources, take corrective actions, and assist with performance reviews in the absence of a supervisor.
• Troubleshoot processing equipment such as washers, sonics, endo processors, cart washers, sterilizers, and the instrument tracking system.
• Monitor and control supplies and equipment, resolve related issues, and maintain accurate sterilization records.
• Follow department standards for equipment, instrumentation, chemicals, and personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, CER) and maintenance of the credential.
• Minimum five years of sterile processing, central service, or surgical technologist experience, or two years plus a Certificate of Healthcare Leadership within six months.
• Physical ability to lift 20‑30 lb items, push carts up to 200 lb, and stand/walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Technical expertise with sterile processing equipment (washers, sonics, endo processors, cart washers, sterilizers).
• Proficiency in using instrument and productivity tracking programs.
• Knowledge of proper handling of instrumentation, chemicals, and PPE standards.
