Criminal Assistant United States Attorney – Term Position

About the role

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Texas is seeking a Criminal Assistant Attorney on a term basis to support investigations and prosecutions involving illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. The role will be based in one of six district offices across Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and prosecute cases related to illegal immigration, dangerous drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
• Target criminal organizations, including cartels and groups designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations or Specially Designated Global Terrorists.
• Handle criminal casework and related forfeiture efforts as required.
• Collaborate with federal agencies and local law‑enforcement partners throughout the district.
• Progressively take on more complex assignments as training and experience develop.

Required profile

• Experience in federal criminal prosecution or related legal practice.
• Ability to manage complex casework and adapt to evolving investigative demands.
• Commitment to upholding the rule of law and the mission of the Department of Justice.
