Counselor – Crisis Response Team

About the role

The State of Georgia, through its Pathways Center partnership with Coweta CARES, seeks a licensed counselor to join a unique para‑medicine program that responds to mental health and substance‑abuse crises. You will work alongside paramedics to stabilize individuals in crisis, aiming to reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and incarcerations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial and therapeutic support to clients experiencing mental health or detoxification crises.
• Complete Behavioral Health Assessments and conduct clinical interviews to form diagnostic impressions.
• Develop collaborative treatment plans with clients and multidisciplinary team members.
• Deliver professional therapeutic services to persons with mental illness or addictive disorders.
• Partner with EMS personnel in the Coweta CARES program, performing risk assessments and crisis interventions.
• Facilitate admissions, maintain communication with referral sources, families, and the Care Campus healthcare team.

Required profile

• Valid LPC, LCSW, or LMFT license in Georgia, or a Master’s degree with eligibility for licensure within six months (LAPC, LMSW, LAMFTA).
• At least one year of experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Alternatively, a Master’s in social work or counseling, appropriate licensure, and two years of related post‑license experience.
