Corporate Accountant – Luxury Retail (Hybrid, NYC)

About the role

We are a leading luxury retailer seeking a diligent Corporate Accountant to join our finance team in New York City. This hybrid position offers the chance to work on a variety of accounting tasks while supporting the financial health of a fast‑moving retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform core accounting functions including booking, reconciling, and reporting financial activity.
• Compile and analyze financial data to prepare general‑ledger entries.
• Monitor system reports for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve irregularities.
• Meet all assigned financial closing and reporting deadlines, ensuring timely monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close.
• Prepare monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and assist with audits.
• Support sales/use tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings as required.
• Maintain organized, accurate accounting records in both electronic and hard‑copy formats.
• Provide backup for month‑end duties of fellow accountants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within a retail setting.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with general‑ledger software and accounting systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Hands‑on experience with general‑ledger software.
