Cook I - Canyon Club (Full Time)

About the role

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, a luxury property in Tucson's Catalina Foothills, is hiring a full-time Cook I for the Canyon Club. The resort serves 398 guest rooms, five dining outlets, a spa, recreation and event spaces, and is part of Loews Hotels & Co, founded in 1960.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and organize the work area with all necessary supplies and equipment
• Receive, inspect and rotate food products to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients
• Prepare and store raw food products properly, following standardized recipes and portion-control guidelines
• Plate food according to presentation guidelines and serve it promptly, notifying the supervisor of delays
• Follow governmental food sanitation standards and monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, wash hands frequently, and use kitchen equipment safely
• Notify stewards of dish needs and return utensils to the pot wash area
• Clean and break down the work area at the end of each shift, turn off equipment and secure the kitchen
• Follow teamwork, safety, emergency and uniform/grooming standards, attend training and meetings, and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of cooking experience in an upscale, high-volume hotel or freestanding restaurant, or post-secondary culinary training/certification as "Cook" with two years of hands-on experience
• Knowledge of food service sanitation standards and standard kitchen equipment
• Able to stand, stoop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
• English reading, writing and speaking ability
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
