Controls Engineer (Mid‑Career)

About the role

Dematic is seeking a Controls Engineer to join its Customer Service Modernizations & Upgrades team. The role involves translating technical requirements into engineering deliverables, ensuring quality, and supporting complex system commissioning while traveling up to 40% to customer sites across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Translate project contractual technical requirements into design, layout, emulation, order entry, drawings, and commissioning tasks.
• Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and established engineering practices.
• Identify and resolve issues proactively to avoid project delays.
• Monitor project team performance against KPIs and manage budgets and schedules.
• Act as the main point of contact for mechanical, electrical, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
• Prepare status reports, financial forecasts, and schedule updates, and support risk management.
• Lead technical reviews and post‑mortems to drive continuous improvement.
• Design schematics and control panels and commission complex hardware‑software systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, PLC programming, and automation.
• Strong customer focus and ability to deliver results.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Rockwell PLC hardware and software.
• Knowledge of AC drives (open & closed loop) and Ethernet/IP network design.
• Experience with AutoCAD (a plus).
