Controller / Senior Healthcare Financial Consultant (CFO)

About the role

JFS Consulting is looking for an experienced financial leader to join its Fractional CFO Services team supporting rural hospitals. Depending on experience the position will be hired as a Controller or as a Senior Healthcare Financial Consultant, reporting to the senior CFO officer and working closely with hospital boards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash‑flow management.
• Prepare GAAP‑compliant monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and consolidate results across multiple entities.
• Track and report key performance indicators, support long‑range financial planning and capital budgeting.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rules, grant reporting requirements and other healthcare regulations.
• Coordinate audit readiness, liaise with external auditors and maintain robust internal controls for resource‑constrained hospitals.
• Partner with Fractional CFOs to deliver strategic financial insight and mentor client finance teams.
• Travel occasionally to rural client sites as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in healthcare finance.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑entity portfolios and lead junior staff.
