Controller – Finance Operations Lead

About the role

We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Controller to lead and scale the financial operations of a fast‑growing company in the sports memorabilia and legacy asset industry. You will build the financial infrastructure that supports rapid growth across e‑commerce, retail, warehouse, and event channels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations including AP/AR, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Develop and maintain accurate financial reporting, forecasts, budgets, and cash‑flow projections.
• Manage accounting for e‑commerce (Shopify), warehouse, retail, and event operations.
• Build scalable financial processes and internal controls to support growth.
• Oversee revenue recognition and reconciliation across multiple sales channels.
• Partner with Operations, Sales, and Leadership to evaluate profitability, margins, pricing, and efficiency.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and financial partners.
• Ensure compliance with sales tax, state filings, vendor payments, and financial regulations.
• Support investor reporting, board materials, and fundraising initiatives.
• Assist with contract review from a financial and operational risk perspective.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of inventory‑based businesses, e‑commerce (Shopify), retail, or consumer products.
• Experience in startup or high‑growth environments preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management.
• CPA preferred but not required.
