Continuous Improvement Specialist

About the role

ABB is hiring a Continuous Improvement Specialist for its Industrial Connections and Solutions unit in Mebane, North Carolina. The position reports to the Business Process Manager and covers business improvement projects, MES and SAP ECC support, and subject-matter expertise in manufacturing execution, quality and logistics. Telecommuting is permitted in line with company policy, but the candidate must live within commuting distance of the Mebane office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the portfolio of business improvement projects and ensure they deliver benefits on time and within budget.
• Work with site teams on the integration of manufacturing equipment into the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and SAP ECC.
• Provide operational support, documentation, administration, deployment, configuration and maintenance of MES across development, test and production environments.
• Promote best-practice sharing, cross-PGU collaboration and reuse of processes, tools and knowledge in advanced manufacturing.
• Supervise risk management strategies for the local unit and act as subject matter expert in manufacturing execution, quality and logistics.
• Present systems strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leaders, and ensure efficient integration of processes and technologies globally and locally.
• Take part in all project phases to ensure handoffs and knowledge transfer, and develop a business analysis strategy aligned with business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 8 years of experience implementing SAP ERP modules and MES projects, including project and change management for mid-to-large projects and stakeholder communication.
• 5 years of experience implementing SAP ECC modules (Material Master, EDI, Process Weaver, discrete manufacturing), supporting S/4HANA upgrades and end-user training.
• 1 year of experience with the SAP ECC Warehouse module (WM).

Required skills

• SAP ERP ECC modules: QM, PP, VC, MM, WM, EDI and Process Weaver.
• Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
