Consumer Access Specialist - Overnight Shift

About the role

AdventHealth Ocala is hiring a full-time Consumer Access Specialist for overnight shifts (7pm to 7am, weekdays and rotating weekends). The role covers patient registration, insurance verification, billing support and front-desk coverage, working closely with clinical, ancillary and consumer access departments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed
• Create patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments or set up payment plans
• Coordinate with utilization management on pre-authorization and contact insurers to verify eligibility and benefits
• Register patients for services accurately and collect demographic and insurance information
• Provide continuous coverage of assigned areas during shifts, arrange relief coverage and cover the switchboard as needed
• Manage communication between clinical, ancillary and consumer access departments and document patient and insurer conversations
• Perform cashiering functions such as collections and cash reconciliation

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Customer service experience and advanced insurance knowledge
• Understanding of HIPAA and CMS guidelines

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems
• Office equipment operation (computer, fax, printer, scanner)

Pay range: $16.79 - $26.86. Positions may be subject to a Florida Level 2 background screening.
