Consultant – Pilot Gender‑Sensitive Climate Change Indicators

About the role

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in close collaboration with UNSD and UNEP, seeks a consultant to develop a concise pilot list of core gender‑sensitive climate change indicators and accompanying methodological guidance. The work will support capacity‑building activities in selected pilot countries and ensure the indicators are technically robust, feasible and usable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a pilot list of core gender‑sensitive climate change indicators.
• Produce detailed methodological guidance for each indicator.
• Facilitate an iterative review process with UN partners to ensure technical quality.
• Support capacity‑building activities in pilot countries, including training and knowledge transfer.
• Coordinate with UNSD, UNEP and other relevant UN bodies throughout the project.

Required profile

• Experience in climate change statistics and gender‑focused data analysis.
• Familiarity with UN statistical frameworks, the Paris Agreement Enhanced Transparency Framework, and the Global Set of Climate Change Statistics and Indicators.
• Proven ability to develop indicator methodologies and guidance documents.
• Experience supporting capacity‑building initiatives in multiple countries.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
