Construction Superintendent – Field Operations

About the role

The Construction Superintendent oversees daily field operations on assigned projects, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. Acting as the primary on‑site representative, the Superintendent collaborates closely with the Project Manager and General Superintendent.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate daily construction activities to meet productivity and schedule goals.
• Lead foremen, craft labor, and subcontractors, enforcing safety policies and site regulations.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre‑task planning sessions.
• Maintain short‑interval and weekly look‑ahead schedules in partnership with the Project Manager.
• Monitor manpower, equipment usage, and material availability to support production.
• Coordinate inspections with clients, inspectors, and quality personnel.
• Identify and communicate field issues, conflicts, or potential delays.
• Prepare accurate daily reports on manpower, work activities, safety observations, and site conditions.
• Assist with project start‑up, site logistics, mobilization, and close‑out activities.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in construction field operations, preferably industrial or heavy commercial.
• Proven experience supervising crews, foremen, or subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, and productivity drivers.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• OSHA 30‑hour Construction Safety certification (or obtainable).
• CPR / First Aid certification (or obtainable).
• Relevant equipment‑operation certifications as required by project scope.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
