Compliance (Conflicts) Analyst

About the role

Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm with more than 3,000 lawyers and 3,000 business services professionals across 50 offices, is looking for an experienced Compliance (Conflicts) Analyst with conflicts review experience to join its US team. The analyst conducts conflict-of-interest research and analysis by reviewing matter intake, performing corporate and database research and identifying potential issues for lawyer review. The role may be performed remotely from any state where the firm has an office, and attendance at the office is required as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to lawyer and staff requests to perform conflicts of interest searches.
• Review information submitted by lawyers and support staff for completeness and accuracy, following up as needed.
• Research the corporate history of clients and parties and search websites for corporate affiliations such as parent/subsidiary relationships.
• Query the conflicts database using Boolean searching and search terms, then review generated conflict reports for relevance and identify potential conflicts.
• Analyze reports independently with limited guidance and summarize the basis for potential conflicts for the assigned Compliance Lawyers.
• Work closely with Compliance Lawyers to keep the compliance workflow accurate and efficient.
• Answer questions about the Global Practice Standards program and share dealings, and safeguard confidential information.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• One year of conflicts or legal assistant experience, or similar analyst experience in a decision-making capacity.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; prior exposure to international business correspondence is a plus.
• Strong analytical, issue-spotting and prioritization skills, and willingness to learn the law and conflict-of-interest principles.
• Stability and composure under pressure, and solid knowledge of world geography.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Boolean searching and use of the conflicts database.

• Salary range of $60,000 to $90,000 per year in the California, Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis, New York and Washington, DC markets, varying by market.
