Communications Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer supports the Police and Security Command Center at Martin Hospital South, handling incoming and outgoing communications, monitoring surveillance equipment, and providing critical information to responders. This position works primarily on weekends with additional weekday coverage as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, assess, and respond to security/police and emergency phone calls.
• Monitor and respond to alarm signals across multiple platforms.
• Transmit security/police radio, air‑transport, and satellite communications.
• Process classified data requests for employees, patients, and the public.
• Draft and disseminate electronic notifications and mass alerts during crises.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of high‑volume communications center experience, OR an Associate’s degree with relevant training and one year of experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Prior dispatch experience in 911 or a similar environment is preferred.

Required skills

• PBX operation and high‑volume communications handling.
• Experience with dispatch and surveillance monitoring systems.
• Ability to process and transmit multi‑platform radio and satellite communications.
