CNC Operator

About the role

Chant Engineering is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to run an Okuma Horizontal Milling Center. The role supports cross‑functional teams and contributes to efficient production of custom testing machines and hydraulic test stands.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate an Okuma Horizontal Milling Center.
• Read and interpret engineering part drawings and create precision components.
• Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, and depth micrometers.
• Input and adjust tool offsets, inspect, clean, and pack finished products.
• Complete quality control documentation and inspection sheets.

Required profile

• Technical college training or high school diploma with relevant experience.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 70 lb.
• Proactive self‑starter with strong problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Experience operating Okuma equipment, especially Horizontal Milling Centers.
• Knowledge of basic G‑code and ability to interpret it.
• Familiarity with Mastercam CAM and SolidWorks (or similar CAD/CAM software).
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, depth micrometers).
