CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift

About the role

Join the Johnson Controls Navy Systems team in York, PA as a CNC Machinist on the 2nd shift, supporting the design and manufacture of chilled‑water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and monitor CNC milling and drilling machines, including horizontal boring mills, SNK and Mori Seiki equipment.
• Perform fixture change‑overs, load and unload production parts, and conduct on‑line inspections to ensure finishes and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring instruments, gauges and deburring tools to maintain part quality.
• Maintain tooling, complete preventive‑maintenance checklists and perform housekeeping within the machining area.

Required profile

• Ability to read shop prints, process sheets and program tapes.
• 1–2 years of trades training or equivalent experience with N/C‑controlled machines.
• Physical ability to handle light to average weight materials continuously.
• U.S. citizenship required for DOD federal contract work.

Required skills

• CNC machining on horizontal boring mills, SNK and Mori Seiki machines.
• Precision measuring and tool‑setting techniques.
• Stick, TIG and manual arc welding, including submerged arc welding.
• Fixture change‑over and machine preventive‑maintenance procedures.
