CNC Machine Operator – Navy Systems

About the role

The Navy Systems team in York, PA designs, manufactures and supports industrial HVAC equipment for U.S. Navy vessels. This position operates a CNC‑controlled horizontal machining center with a rotary table, handling tool changes, part probing and adaptive control.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machine using tool preset system, precision measuring instruments and material handling equipment.
• Read and interpret shop prints, process sheets, specifications and program tapes to produce parts to required tolerances.
• Perform fixture change‑overs, load/unload production parts, conduct on‑line inspections and enter data.
• Maintain primary and backup tooling, monitor control messages and take corrective actions.
• Complete preventive‑maintenance checklists and assist with machine PM.

Required profile

• Ability to read shop prints, mathematics and process documentation.
• 1‑2 years of trades training or equivalent experience with N/C controlled machines.
• Judgment to plan and execute work within quality and tolerance limits.
• Physical ability to perform moderate effort with light to average weight materials.
• U.S. citizenship required for Federal Defense contract work.

Required skills

• CNC machine operation (horizontal boring mills, SNK, Mori Seiki preferred).
• Use of precision measuring tools: ID/OD micrometers up to 130", calipers up to 130", parallels up to 48", depth gauges, height gauges, plug and ring gauges.
• Tool presetting, automatic tool changer management and part probing.

• Starting pay $34.08/hr; qualified journeyman $43.31/hr (+$2/hr for 2nd shift).
