CNA Unit Coordinator

About the role

AdventHealth in Sebring, Florida is hiring a full-time, day-shift CNA Unit Coordinator. The role prepares rooms for new admissions, welcomes and orients patients, documents care, collects specimens and acts as a liaison between patients, families and staff. The pay range is $15.73 to $25.16.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare rooms for new admissions, including setting up personal care items and vital sign equipment.
• Welcome new admissions and orient patients to their rooms.
• Transfer patients between beds, stretchers and wheelchairs with assistance from other personnel.
• Follow proper lifting and transporting techniques to ensure patient and personal safety.
• Document personal care, intake and output, vital signs and weights according to policy.
• Collect and label patient specimens at bedside and send them to the lab.
• Report changes in patient status promptly and respond to patient call lights.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, families, staff and medical personnel.
• Maintain accurate patient records and unit census, and keep the unit clean, comfortable and safe.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as ordered by the physician and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
• Certification as a Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A, NCPCT, PCT-C, CNA or EMT).
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience, 2+ years of lead EKG experience (Emergency Department only), CNA experience, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and Certified Health Unit Coordinator certification.

Required skills

• Verbal and written communication in English with people of varied backgrounds.
• Ability to learn and use computer applications, including electronic keyboards and peripherals.
• Accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, teamwork, critical thinking and customer service.
