Clinical/Medical Laboratory Scientist (PRN)

About the role

Ochsner seeks a Clinical/Medical Laboratory Scientist on a PRN (as‑needed) basis to join a compassionate, inclusive team dedicated to exceptional patient care. The role involves receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring accurate data for diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, and prepare specimens according to standard protocols.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing, including quality control, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Calibrate, maintain, and monitor analytical equipment.
• Conduct phlebotomy procedures as appropriate and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Document corrective actions and adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related scientific field.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or obtain within 180 days).
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB generalist certification required within 90 days of hire.
• No prior work experience required.
