Clinical Technician – Med/Surg (Night Shift)

About the role

The Clinical Technician on the Med/Surg unit at Mentor Hospital provides basic patient care during night shifts, supports a clean environment, and works under RN supervision. This position offers hands‑on experience in a high‑tech, 24‑hour hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care, take vital signs, weight, and perform point‑of‑care testing.
• Perform dressing changes, patient transfers, apply external monitoring devices, and conduct phlebotomy, 12‑lead ECGs, and urinary Foley catheter removal.
• Report abnormal findings to the RN and help maintain orderly, clean patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) before hire.
• At least one year of recent full‑time patient care experience (or equivalent military or clinical rotation experience).
• Ability to read and perform basic math at an 8th‑grade level.

Required skills

• Vital signs measurement and basic patient assessment.
• Point‑of‑care testing and dressing change techniques.
• Patient transfer and transport procedures.
• Use of external monitoring devices.
• Phlebotomy, 12‑lead ECG acquisition, and Foley catheter removal.
