Clinical Technician – Med/Surg

About the role

Join the Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital team as a Clinical Technician on the Med/Surg unit. You will work nights providing basic patient care, maintaining a clean environment, and supporting the nursing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, personal care, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers, and applying monitoring devices.
• Perform technical tasks such as phlebotomy, 12‑lead ECGs, and removal of urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the RN.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required within the new‑hire period.
• At least one year of recent full‑time patient care experience (or equivalent military medical experience, nursing clinical rotation, or relevant education).
• Ability to read and apply mathematics at an 8th‑grade level and meet physical demands of moving patients.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Phlebotomy.
• 12‑lead ECG acquisition.
• Point‑of‑care testing.
• Urinary Foley catheter removal.
