Clinical Technician – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)

About the role

The Clinical Technician works in the G50/G51 Medical Intensive Care Units at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, providing direct patient care under RN supervision. The position involves rotating day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts to support high‑acuity patients requiring critical care procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs, weight, and perform point‑of‑care testing.
• Assist patients with personal care, dressing changes, and patient transfers/transport.
• Apply external monitoring devices and perform technical tasks such as phlebotomy, 12‑lead ECGs, and removal of urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to the RN.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required within the new‑hire period.
• At least one year of recent full‑time patient‑care experience (or equivalent military medical experience).
• Ability to read and comprehend at an 8th‑grade level and perform applied mathematics.
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform medium‑work tasks.
