Clinical Technician – Cardiovascular & Vascular ICU

About the role

The Cardiovascular and Vascular Intensive Care Units at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus provide post‑operative acute care for patients after heart, thoracic and vascular surgeries. The Clinical Technician works evenings (11:00 am‑11:30 pm) and supports the nursing team in delivering high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs, weight, and assist patients with personal care under RN supervision.
• Perform point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, apply and remove external monitoring devices, and manage urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional condition to the RN.
• Help keep patient rooms clean and orderly.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• One year of recent full‑time patient care experience, or a nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation.
• Military medical experience (Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician) is considered.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to perform manual patient handling and maintain eye‑hand coordination.
