Clinical Pharmacist I – General Pharmacy

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist I provides comprehensive pharmacy services across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Working closely with physicians and the healthcare team, the pharmacist ensures safe, effective, and cost‑efficient medication therapy for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medication orders, including non‑sterile, sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
• Interpret verbal and written drug orders and accurately enter them into the computerized patient medication record.
• Issue controlled substances to patient‑care areas and maintain required documentation.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, verify their daily activities, and ensure competency assessments are completed.
• Provide ambulatory pharmaceutical care, including anticoagulation management, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
• Monitor drug therapy for interactions, contraindications, allergies, and appropriate dosing.
• Participate in pharmacokinetics consults, renal dosing adjustments, and adverse drug reaction reporting.
• Support formulary management, therapeutic substitution, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted pharmacist license.
• Completion of continuing education and maintenance of licensure records.
• Demonstrated competence in OneCHRISTUS leadership competencies (Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders).
• Ability to supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel.

• Compounding of sterile and non‑sterile pharmaceuticals.
