Clinical Pharmacist – Emergency Department (7‑on/7‑off evenings)

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist will provide dedicated pharmacy services within the Emergency Department at Indian River Hospital. Working on a 7‑on/7‑off evening schedule, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence‑based medication management for high‑acuity patients.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify medication orders, dispensing medications in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide real‑time medication recommendations during emergencies, including code‑blue and other urgent events.
• Support medication safety initiatives and coordinate with inpatient pharmacy teams for continuity of care.
• Document services accurately and utilize pharmacy technology to its full extent.

Required profile

• PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (or eligibility for reciprocity within 90 days).
• Basic Life Support certification and immunization administration training (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Preferred: completion of PGY‑1 residency, PGY‑2 residency, fellowship, or board certification.

Required skills

• Medication order verification and dispensing.
• Use of clinical pharmacy software and technology for documentation and decision support.
