Clinical Engineering Imaging Technician III

About the role

The Clinical Engineering Imaging Technician III works on Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus, providing independent diagnosis, repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance for advanced imaging equipment. This full‑time position supports modalities such as interventional radiology, CT, MRI, and linear accelerators, ensuring equipment readiness for patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze system failures and perform repairs according to manufacturer protocols within SLA timeframes.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on complex medical imaging systems and develop site‑specific procedures.
• Inspect incoming new equipment and document details in the CMMS database.
• Serve as an enterprise resource, offering technical expertise on assigned imaging equipment.
• Provide cross‑training to fellow technicians on devices they are qualified to service.
• Communicate equipment status and serviceability updates to clinical and non‑clinical staff.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering Technology.
• Successful completion of a Radiological Services Training program from an OEM or approved third‑party provider.
• At least four years of experience with linear accelerators, CT scanners, MRI machines, nuclear medical imaging equipment, or similar complex systems.

Required skills

• Repair and calibration of linear accelerators.
• Maintenance of CT and MRI imaging equipment.
• Preventive maintenance procedures for interventional radiology and cath lab devices.
• Use of CMMS for equipment tracking and documentation.
• Physical ability to move 50 lb, climb ladders, and work in confined, darkened areas.
