Clinical Engineering Imaging Technician I

About the role

The Clinical Engineering (CE) Imaging Technician I works on Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining ultrasound, X‑ray, and mammography equipment. The role operates Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, with occasional travel to other CCF locations as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze system failures of medical imaging devices and perform repairs according to manufacturer protocols within SLA timeframes.
• Perform preventive maintenance on complex imaging systems and develop site‑specific maintenance procedures.
• Inspect incoming new equipment, document findings, and update the CMMS database.
• Serve as an enterprise resource, providing technical expertise on assigned imaging equipment.
• Provide on‑the‑job cross‑training to fellow technicians for devices they are qualified on.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering Technology (or equivalent military training) with two years of CCF Clinical Engineering Tech II experience, or four years of external experience maintaining medical equipment.
• High School diploma/GED with four years of CCF Clinical Engineering experience, or six years of external experience, plus successful completion of an OEM radiological service training program.

Required skills

• Knowledge of complex electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems related to ultrasound, X‑ray, and mammography equipment.
• In‑depth understanding of engineering theory and principles applicable to advanced medical imaging systems.
