About the role
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) seeks an experienced Psychiatrist to serve as Clinical Director at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This senior leadership position oversees adult mental health, forensic services, and developmental disabilities programs, ensuring high‑quality, accessible care for the state’s most vulnerable populations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures for clinical services.
- Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate delivery of health services across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Provide leadership to managers and staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Ensure community health services are adequate, appropriate, and accessible.
- Set long‑ and short‑term strategic goals and participate in agency‑wide planning.
- Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, discipline health‑care employees.
- Stay current with advances in medicine, diagnostic equipment, data‑processing technology, regulations, and financing options.
- Manage human‑resource functions and administrative activities for clinical staff.
- Monitor program effectiveness, conduct community assessments, and adjust services based on data.
- Participate in budget development and fiscal oversight.
Required profile
- Board‑certified Psychiatrist with extensive clinical experience.
- Proven leadership and management experience in a large health‑care organization.
- Strong knowledge of mental health, substance‑use, and developmental‑disability services.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and policies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, stakeholders, and the community.
