Clinical Charts Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Clinical Charts Specialist to provide administrative support on the unit at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This position works closely with nurse managers to ensure smooth clerical operations and accurate patient documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a variety of clerical support functions for the unit, including data entry, copying, and document distribution.
• Conduct research, gather information, and compile reports using multiple resources.
• Receive, screen, and direct telephone communications while greeting internal and external customers.
• Operate office equipment, maintain supplies, and manage filing, inventory, and mailing systems.
• Track G‑Cal Board, obtain demographics, initiate and modify program codes, and ensure legal status paperwork is received.
• Assist with patient flow from emergency rooms and community sources.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of progressively complex office or administrative experience.
• Ability to maintain routine clerical records and filing systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedural guidelines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
