Claims Monitoring Counsel

About the role

MG+M is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Professional Consulting Practice Group as a Claims Monitoring Counsel. The role focuses on risk‑management and claims monitoring for architects, engineers, and their professional liability insurers across the United States and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialized risk‑management and claims‑avoidance advice, including contract reviews and seminars.
• Investigate, evaluate, and monitor the defense of complex professional‑liability claims.
• Serve as liaison to underwriters, senior claim adjusters, and local counsel.
• Develop and manage resolution strategies, negotiate claim settlements, and interface with clients, insurers, and project participants.
• Offer strategic input on defense strategies, conduct independent exposure evaluations, and oversee high‑value construction disputes.

Required profile

• Experience in complex civil litigation, preferably in the construction arena, claims management, or interaction with insurers.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice in any U.S. state.
• Strong interest in construction projects and ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Excellent research, writing, multitasking, and analytical skills.
