Senior Attorney Advisor – Legal Programs Office

About the role

The Senior Attorney Advisor provides expert legal support, advice, and policy guidance to United States Attorneys on all aspects of civil litigation, both defensive and affirmative. This position is based in the Legal Programs Office of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication between EOUSA, U.S. Attorneys, client agencies, congressional staff, and other federal entities.
• Develop, promote, and interpret policies and guidelines, including portions of the Justice Manual and U.S. Attorneys' Policies and Procedures.
• Assess existing policies and procedures, recommend improvements, and implement solutions to enhance program efficiency.
• Coordinate and prepare training materials; identify training needs and oversee delivery for U.S. Attorney offices.
• Represent U.S. Attorney interests on inter‑agency working groups and committees.
• Plan and execute innovative pilot projects to advance the mission of EOUSA and the Department of Justice.

Required profile

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in a U.S. state bar.
• Minimum of 4 years post‑J.D. legal experience, including experience bringing claims on behalf of, or defending the interests of, the United States.
