Civil Project Manager

About the role

The Civil Project Manager will lead civil engineering projects from concept through construction, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction. This full‑time position is based in Birmingham, Alabama and involves occasional travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to develop scopes of service, fee proposals, and project schedules.
• Manage design, budgeting, quality control, and supervision of engineers and technicians throughout planning, design, and construction phases.
• Review and approve design documents, calculations, and subconsultant deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain client relationships, handle contract changes, and assist with billing and fee collection.
• Lead project meetings, facilitate approvals with local agencies, and resolve construction‑related issues promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience; 5 years preferred.
• Professional civil engineering license (ability to obtain additional state licenses).
• Proven ability to manage projects from inception to completion and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and stormwater design software.
• Strong competency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, project management tools).
• Experience preparing design calculations, plans, and specifications.
• Ability to review and verify technical work of subconsultants.
